Medical Implant ICs
A medical implantable device design leader, Zarlink has shipped over 10 million customized ICs and modules for pacemakers and surge protectors.Pacemakers
Systems designers rely on the knowledge we have accumulated in the development of more than 30 custom pacemaker and surge protection chips. Our chips contribute where it counts - very low power consumption - which extends battery life, provides consummate reliability, and reduces the size and weight of a medical product.
A modern pacemaker consumes between 10 and 40 microwatts from its internal cell. Pacemakers remain implanted, regulating the patient's cardiac rhythm, 24 hours a day, seven days per week, for seven years or more on a single pacemaker power source. Currently, over 1million pacemakers use Zarlink Semiconductor CMOS chips. Taken together, these chips consume less power than a 40-Watt light bulb!
With this experience, we deliver solutions for:
· Single chamber pacemakers
· State-of-the-art DDDR models
· Medical Surge Protection
· We can partition silicon for single chips
· Separate chips for analog and digital processing
Medical Surge Protection Devices
Implantable medical electronics, such as pacemakers, ICDs, neurostimulators and bladder control devices, are used to treat a wide range of illnesses. To maintain reliability, these implantable devices must be able to withstand electrical surges, such as those caused by medical treatments like defibrillation.
Zarlink's family of high-performance surge protection devices for implantable medical electronics optimized for fast turn-on and extremely low leakage current. The ICs ensure high performance and reliability, as well as an easy route to compliance with the EN-45502 and EN-50061 specifications.
