Zarlink's Parallel Optical Solution technology improves performance and simplifies design of high-density switching, routing, and data center interconnects.

Parallel Fiber Optical Modules

To meet the growing demand for optical high-speed switching and routing, server clustering and high-performance-computing, Zarlink offers a range of compact, low power consumption 4 and 12-channel parallel fiber optical modules (PFOMs).

These include 4-channel duplex transceivers following the POP4 MSA and 12-channel simplex transmitter/receiver pairs in line with the SNAP12 MSA. Products offering per channel data rates up to 3.125-Gbps (total bandwidth throughput of 37.5G) are currently in production.

Quad Small Form-Factor Pluggable (QSFP) Modules

Zarlink's Quad Small Form-Factor Pluggable (QSFP) module is the industry's first high-density, quad-channel, front-panel pluggable optical transceiver following the recently announced QSFP multi-source agreement. Zarlink's QSFP product provides equipment manufacturers with edge and board density savings of greater than 60 percent as compared to traditional single channel transceivers while slashing power consumption to 250 mW per transceiver channel.

Zarlink is currently sampling a complete QSFP product family from Gigabit Ethernet to Infiniband DDR (5-Gbps) data-rates.

Zlynx Integrated Optical Fiber

Zarlink's ZLynx fiber optic cable is a fully integrated electrical-optical-electrical (EOE) cable product for interconnecting enterprise data centers and high-performance computer clusters. Zarlink's ZLynx products provide installers and operators with unbeatable advantages in terms of reach, weight and flexibility.

Zarlink's ZLynx products are one-piece fiber optic cable assemblies with integrated, industry-standard electrical terminations capable of 20 Gbps transmission in both directions and 5 Gbps duplex 4-channel data transmission, for distances up to 100 meters.

Currently sampling, Zarlink's ZLynx products target InfiniBand dual data rate (DDR) at 4 x 5 Gbps per channel and 10 GbE XAUI at 4 x 3.125 Gbps applications. This will be the first in the ZLynx family of optical cables available at cable lengths up to 100 meters and terminated with a number of high-speed electrical connectors.
